Serie A

Fiorentina try to stay near the top of the table taking on a formidable Parma team. First place Internazionale must face Bologna in what should be an easy win for Inter. AC Milan continues to move up the ranks and must face a tough Cagliari team this week. Juventus, meanwhile, will try and stay ahead of AC Milan playing against Udinese. There are plenty of games to keep you entertained. Bet today and add some excitement to your day!

Premier League

Top ranked Chelsea want to continue their dominance of the Premier League playing against a susceptible Wolverhampton Wanderers team. Arsenal, who are second place behind Chelsea, face Sunderland this week. Manchester United take on Everton this week, and must look for a win in order to stay near the top of the table. Meanwhile, in one of the most exciting matchups of the week, 7th place Liverpool take on 6th place Manchester City. Both teams will be looking for a win in order to move up in the ranks and close the gap on the top 4. You do not want to miss these games!

La Liga

Barcelona sit just one point ahead of rivals Real Madrid in the La Liga table. Undefeated Barca must face Athletic Bilbao this week in what should not be a difficult match for Barca to win. Real Madrid will also be looking for a win and must take on Racing Santadar, who have just one win so far this season. Sevilla FC faces Tenerife, while Valencia is matched up against Osasuna. Predict the outcomes and win big! Place your bets now!

Bundesliga

Bayer Leverkusen continue to lead the Bundesliga table and would like to keep their unbeaten streak alive. They must face an always tough Bayern Munich team, who have struggled so far this season. Hamburg SV should have an easy win against VfL Bochum, but an upset can always happen. VfL Wolfsburg take on a weak Nurnberg team, who are having trouble finding the back of the net consistently. Many matches to watch this week with upsets just waiting to happen. Don’t miss any of the action, bet now!

Will the Steelers repeat? Will Brady take The Patriots to the SuperBowl again? The 2009 season is full of drama and suspense and you will have many games to great odds this year as the season starts. Look for some serious upsets and place those bets!

Singapore Grand Prix

After such a long time away from Singapore, F1 is back for it’s second race in as many years. If this year’s race gets half the attention that last year’s Singapore Grand Prix has received, than you don’t want to miss placing some bets. Last year’s potential race fixing scandal is still being talked about as the FIA has called Renault to a hearing just before the race. Don’t forget the race is on Sept 25, 26, 27.

A Sure Thing

A match to make some serious money on this month is in American Football. The odds will be definitely in your favour as the bookies do not understand this match-up. Experts suggest to place a bet on Baltimore Ravens beating Cleveland Browns by much more than the spread on Sunday September 27.

US Open champion earns respect and is now priced close to Nadal and Federer.

Now that the 2009 US Open is over there is not another Grand Slam in the near future. However Stan James, on the ball as usual, has already released its prices for several key players on the men’s tour.

At this point the favorites still run six deep though Andy Roddick is a questionable favorite:

1. Roger Federer, +200 (2/1).
2. Rafael Nadal, +250 (5/2).
3. Juan Martin Del Potro, +275 (11/4).
4. Andy Murray, +350 (7/2).
5. Novak Djokovic, +550 (11/2).
6. Andy Roddick, +1600 (16/1).

In that group, Roddick and Murray look like the two worst bets based on their poor performances at the US Open.

On the other hand Nadal and Djokovic are probably the players that should be attracting money at this point. Djokovic played exceptionally well hard court tennis over the summer and he has won the Aussie before. Nadal, despite losing to Del Potro in the semis, still matched his career best US Open performance and will certainly be looking to perfect his game to defend his 2009 championship.

Serena will have to be at the top of her game to win this match.

With all of the top seeds that have been falling left and right on the women’s draw it’s time to look at who the favorites are. Betting trends put Serena Williams, correctly, as the favorite followed by Kim Clijsters (correctly), but after that the list is all wrong. Here are the favorites in terms of odds (subject to change).

1. Serena Williams, Paddy Power -120 (5/6).
2. Kim Clijsters, Victor Chandler +600 (6/1).
3. Svetlana Kuznetsova, Paddy Power +800 (8/1).
4. Caroline Wozniacki, Victor Chandler +1200 (12/1).
5. Flavia Pennetta, Betfred +2000 (20/1).

And here are how the favorites should look, with the top 3 players all on the same side of the draw:

1. Serena Williams
2. Kim Clijsters
3. Flavia Pennetta
4. Caroline Wozniacki
5. Svetlana Kuznetsova

Post-Wimbledon Flavia Pennetta has been tough as hell to play against as she has surged into the WTA top 10. At one point she had a 15 match winning streak going that included two titles and wins over 3 top 10 players, including Venus Williams.

In her round of 16 match at Flushing Meadows versus Vera Zvonareva, Pennetta lost the first set but then she came back to win in 3 sets 3-6, 7-6, 6-0 and she saved half a dozen match points while doing it.

Pennetta is going to be the underdog facing Serena Williams in the quarters, as Williams is the defending champ, but Pennetta has been so tough lately and so resilient against adversity that you shouldn’t be afraid to bet on the upset if you like the odds that you are given. The fact that Pennetta is +2000 to win the US Open in the futures market while Williams is -120 certainly reflects who will be the more popular pick but if you can find something like +400 (4/1) or better on Pennetta to win, then that will be a valuable enough price to justify the risk on the underdog.

With the start of the 2009 NFL season less than 1 week away, Sportsbook.com offers the most props and futures in the industry. Just this week, two unique futures were opened: the Top Offense and the Top Defense for the 2009 campaign. Defense may win championships, however the list of best defensive teams changes more frequently than offense.

We rightly assume Pittsburgh and Baltimore are always in the mix and these two teams are the favorites in this prop category, with the Steelers +250 and the Ravens +400. Though both should be looked at strongly, teams can pop up unexpectedly, with no prior warning. The Oakland Raiders were 27th in total defense in 2005 and shot all the way to third in 2006, only to return to 22nd in 2007. The NFC East had four of the Top 8 defenses in 2008 and all four squads are listed in the Top 11 wagers, ranging from +600 for the New York Giants to +1500 for Dallas and Washington.

One team to keep an eye on at +1000 is Minnesota. The Vikings have finished in the Top 8 of total defense in two of the last three years and they have a quarterback in Brett Favre who can move the chains and possess the pigskin. Plus, Minnesota has the second easiest schedule coming into the season which could enhance their chances. The top offenses tend to be more stable for one main reason, the quarterback position. If a team has a top flight signal caller, they have to have a good offensive line to protect him and the front office realizes they have to supply him with weapons to maximize potential. With Tom Brady back, most would expect New England to approach the numbers they reached in 2007, when they led the NFL in points scored (NFL record) and total offense. The Patriots were fifth in yards gained last season with a quarterback (Matt Cassell) only a select few had ever heard of. New England is a justifiable +300 with a healthy Brady. New Orleans is prolific in moving the ball with Drew Brees at quarterback and Sean Payton designing the offense. Payton understands Brees’ strengths and plays to them and the former Purdue QB is accurate passer both in the long and short game. The Saints led the NFL in most yards gained a season ago and are co-favorites with the Pats at +300. Green Bay has been an unwonted offensive team since Brett Favre first played for the Green and Gold and Aaron Rodgers has learned his lessons well based on last year’s performance. The Packers are +600 to be top offense and have the third easiest slate in 2009.

Arizona, Philadelphia, Dallas and Houston can all move the ball with aplomb and have to be contenders. San Diego could be absorbing long shot at +2000 with Philip Rivers now in control of team and relatively favorable schedule once they get past Baltimore and Pittsburgh in the first four games. There are also other fun NFL props to consider, like most individual player sacks and who will be the leading scoring kicker. Log on now to Sportsbook.com to check out these props and much more. Arizona favored to give sharp effort The Arizona Cardinals are the defending NFC champions and are winless in the preseason, no big deal right? None of the top three quarterbacks have generated an offensive touchdown, no big deal right? Kurt Warner had off-season hip surgery and hasn’t looked like the quarterback that took his team to Super Bowl last season, no big deal right? This needs to be the week the Cardinals put it all together, to erase any doubts about them, especially playing at home. Green Bay at Arizona The Cardinals are 3.5-point favorites at Sportsbook.com and need to start building confidence for the upcoming season. Arizona ALMOST won the Super Bowl, yet the fact remains they were 9-7 in the regular season in 2008 and were not considered an elite team when the playoffs began. In this contest, Warner and the first team offense want to put up points and will face Green Bay’s new 3-4 defensive scheme, which features a great deal of blitzing. This could mean check downs to Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, along with some long passes facing one on one coverage. The Packers have rebuilt their offensive line and though talk out of Green Bay is coach Mike McCarthy is satisfied with their progress, the Cards generated four sacks last week. Aaron Rodgers and the first team offense have been crisp. Last week the Pack built 24-0 halftime lead over Buffalo before cruising to 31-21 triumph. However, this is first road game which will alter dynamics. Arizona has thrived in this situation with a 6-0 ATS record in Week 3 and is 9-0 against the number if off a SU loss and opponent is off double digit win. Tim Hightower has been outstanding for Arizona, nevertheless, they didn’t pay top draft pick Beanie Wells to sit on the sidelines and be injured. Watch the total in this contest, which presently is 41 points. The Redbirds are 10-2 OVER after scoring seven points or less in the first half in two straight games and Green Bay is 8-1 OVER when playing with six or less days rest.

Gonzalez and Kohlschreiber are the two dark horses for the tournament on the men’s side.

Fernando Gonzalez pulled out of his first round match hurt against Tomas Berdych in Cincinnati last month after losing the first set 4-6. His price in the futures market immediately started to drift for the US Open as he became a bit of a question mark. However, Gonzalez, a very dangerous player on the men’s tour, looked perfectly fine in the first round at Flushing Meadows the other night as he cruised past Nicolas Massu 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.

What makes Gonzalez such a threat on tour is that he is all-in on virtually every shot he hits. He has career victories over Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Andy Murray, and it’s known that when he is ‘on’ that he can take out virtually anyone.

Gonzalez gets a little tight around the collar when the pressure is on sometimes but the runner-up at the 2007 Australian Open and the semifinalist at Roland Garros this year has a pretty good draw to the semifinals at the present US Open.

His next match is against Josselin Ouanna, the 103rd ranked player on tour, and you have to think Gonzalez will win that match. Down the road, should Gonzalez keep winning, he may encounter Tomas Berdych and/or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. There’s no real reason to think that Gonzalez can’t win either match as Berdych isn’t exactly a force on tour while Gonzalez vs Tsonga would be a coin toss.

If Gonzalez simply plays like he is able to he might find himself squaring off against Rafael Nadal in the quarters and the US Open isn’t exactly the Spaniard’s best Slam. With that there is reason to believe that Gonzalez can realistically make the semifinals here at the US Open and that makes his price to win at Flushing Meadows a good one at +10000 (100/1; bet365).

On the other half of the draw Philipp Kohlschreiber has exuded some strength lately. His play has been somewhat sporadic since Wimbledon where he lost to Roger Federer in the third round but he does have victories over Tommy Robredo, Fernando Verdasco, and Tomas Berdych in between Slams. He also beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on tour this year as well as Novak Djokovic at the French Open so there is no reason to believe he can’t beat some big names on tour.

Kohlschreiber has a tough draw ahead of him but both of his two opening round victories were very efficient straight sets wins. Also, he looked very sharp in those sets as his shots were often very well paced, tight to the net, deep, and most importantly – they were in. With Stepanek ahead of him and then likely Djokovic and probably Roddick, Kohlscreiber is far from a lock for the semis, but he does have the ability within himself to beat players of top 5 calibre so he can’t be written off either.

If you are only interested in longshots at this point Kohlschreiber (+20000 to win the US Open, 200/1; bet365) and Gonzalez are the two players to sprinkle a bet on.

If you don’t want to pick them to win the title outright because you don’t think the prices are worth it, then you might want to consider pounding bets on them in their individual matches as they develope.

Flavia Pennetta has been playing great the last couple of months and she had a successful tournament last year at the US Open (quarterfinals). Her current rank is a career high 10th and she could be a sleeper at Flushing Meadows this year. Her next match is against Indian tennis idol Sania Mirza.

In head to head play, Pennetta has a slight edge as she has beaten Mirza 3 times and lost twice. However, while that does make the match look like it could be pretty even, they have met 3 times on the hard court surface and Pennetta has won all three of those matches. In those three matches Mirza never won more than 4 individual games in a set and that does make her chances of advancing to the third round of the US Open appear pretty bleak.

Also, the second round of Grand Slams is usually where Mirza falls, at least of late. She hasn’t made the third round of any Slam since the 2008 Australian Open and she isn’t the type of player that really threatens a top 10 player like Pennetta.

Our recommendation is back to Pennetta when the odds come out for a straight sets victory.
